Investing in Better Customer Service – Meet Our New Electric Engineering Vehicle

At Jones Technology, we’re always looking at ways we can make life easier for our engineers and, ultimately, provide a better service to our customers.

Sometimes that means investing in new technology. Sometimes it means developing our team and gaining new certifications. And sometimes, it means making sure our engineers have everything they need to do their job properly when they arrive on site.

That brings us to the latest addition to the Jones Technology fleet – our new Kia PV5 Cargo Plus.

It might look like a new van, but for us, it’s much more than that. We’ve chosen and equipped it specifically around the way our engineers work, giving them a practical, connected and fully electric base for installations, projects and on-site support across the UK.

Built Around Our Engineers

Our engineers can be working on anything from a straightforward hardware replacement to a much larger network deployment, so having the right equipment with them is essential.

The new Kia gives us plenty of space to safely carry the specialist tools, test equipment, hardware, replacement parts and project materials needed for the job.

That could mean deploying Fortinet firewalls, switches and wireless access points, installing Starlink satellite connectivity, setting up 5G and mobile broadband, completing business broadband installations or carrying out wider network infrastructure upgrades.

Having everything organised, protected and ready to go means less time spent sourcing equipment or making additional trips and more time focused on getting the job done.

Every customer and every site is different, so giving our engineers the flexibility to prepare for whatever they might encounter makes a real difference.

A Mobile Office That Actually Works

Of course, we couldn’t add a new vehicle to the Jones Technology fleet without putting some technology in it.

We’ve equipped the Kia with Starlink satellite internet, effectively turning it into a connected mobile workspace for our engineering team.

While out on the road, our engineers can securely access customer documentation, connect to systems remotely, download firmware and updates, update project information, join Microsoft Teams calls and stay connected with the rest of the Jones Technology team.

That connectivity becomes particularly useful when we’re working in areas where traditional mobile coverage isn’t quite up to the job.

We regularly install and support Starlink for our customers, so it made sense to put the same technology to work in our own business.

Going Electric

Choosing a fully electric vehicle was also an important part of the decision.

As Jones Technology grows, we want to make sensible choices that reduce our environmental impact where we can. Moving to the fully electric Kia PV5 Cargo Plus means zero tailpipe emissions while also helping us reduce noise and day-to-day running costs.

We know sustainability isn’t achieved through one decision or one new vehicle. It’s about making better choices over time, and moving part of our engineering fleet to electric is another positive step in that direction.

It All Comes Back to Better Service

Ultimately, the reason behind the investment is simple: we want our engineers to have the right tools, technology and resources to provide the best possible service to our customers.

We’ve recently achieved Fortinet Select Partner status, continued investing in our cyber security and networking capabilities, and now we’re making sure the infrastructure around our engineering team keeps pace too.

The new Kia gives our engineers the space to carry what they need, the connectivity to work effectively wherever they are and the flexibility to respond to a wide range of customer requirements.

It might be a van, but it’s also another part of the infrastructure that helps us deliver the responsive, reliable service our customers expect from Jones Technology.

What’s Next?

Technology doesn’t stand still, and neither do we.

As Jones Technology continues to grow, we’ll keep investing in our people, our capabilities and the technology that helps us do our jobs better.

We’re looking forward to getting the new Kia PV5 Cargo Plus out on the road and seeing it put to work supporting our customers across the UK.

Keep an eye on our social channels over the coming weeks to see more of the new vehicle in action – and if you spot the Jones Technology van out on the road, give us a wave!
